Contribute to the WipperSnapper during Hacktoberfest 2022! #Hacktoberfest #IoT « Adafruit Industries – Makers, Hackers, Artists, Designers, Engineers!

for the first time, WipperSnapper Participate in Hacktoberfest Annual Digital Ocean Festival As an open source project you can contribute to!

What is Hacktoberfest?

Hacktoberfest is Digitalocean’s annual event that encourages people to contribute to open source throughout the month of October. Much of today’s technology infrastructure—including some of Digital Ocean’s own products—relies on open source projects built and maintained by passionate people who often don’t have the staff or budget to do more than just keep the project alive. Hacktoberfest is all about giving back to those projects, honing skills, and celebrating all things open source, especially the people who make open source so special!

How do I participate?

The official DigitalOcean website has some great resources for Shareholders As well as a large number of Beginner Resources.

What is WipperSnapper?

WipperSnapper is a firmware designed to turn any WiFi capable board into an IoT device without programming a single line of code. WipperSnapper connects to Adafruit IOweb platform designedby Adafruit!) to me ShowAnd the to replyAnd the interaction with your project data.

Simply upload the WipperSnapper firmware to your board, add the credentials, and connect it to power. Your forum will automatically register itself in your Adafruit IO account.

From there you can add elements to your board such as buttons, switches, potentiometers, sensors and more!

What WipperSnapper Repositories Can I Contribute To?

It depends on what you want to add! WipperSnapper has three core GitHub repositories and we’ve assigned Hacktoberfest-tagged issues to each of them. Plus, if you have a suggestion for something you’d like to do during Hacktoberfest – add an issue to any of these repositories and we’ll take a look at it!

WipperSnapper Components Do you have a favorite sensor or actuator? Want to add support for sensors we don’t yet have on WipperSnapper? This repository contains definitions (think – “digital twins”) of all the components we support so far.

WipperSnapper panels Do you have a favorite development board that isn’t in the WipperSnapper yet? We have a few open and tagged orders for boards that are not yet supported by WipperSnapper but are available on the Adafruit Shop. If you have a suggestion for a board you want to add to WipperSnapper during Hacktoberfest, Add it here and we’ll take a look.

WipperSnapper Firmware For those who have knowledge of C++/Arduino. We have issues open in this repository for firmware and tool improvements! If you want to work on something else, Add it as an issue in this repository and we’ll take a look at it.

I have questions/comments/feedback/etc!

The best place for questions about this is on Adafruit Discord. We will answer any questions you may have at # Help with adafruit-io Channel.
