YouTuber The Weeks Nest DIY shared her best Hocus Pocus DIYs using dollar tree items.

Haunted House HOCUS POCUS

first up in video It was a small Hocus Pocus-themed haunted house.

Youtuber Nicole took a pile of fake books found in the seasonal section of the Dollar Tree and attached a photo she had taken with her Cricut machine that read: “Hocus Pocus.”

Then she took the ceiling of an old dollhouse she had from another project, painted it black, and attached it to the book stack to make it look like a haunted house.

To make the house look more worn out, I took a dry brush with tan acrylic paint and painted it over the entire house.

SPELL BOOK-MARK

For this DIY, you’ll need some fake Halloween roses with faux eyeballs in them and a faux leather wrap from Dollar Tree.

Take a strip of leather fabric, fold it, and glue the two sides together with hot glue to make the bookmark.

Next, take a false eyeball from the rose bouquet and stick it with hot glue on the middle right side of the bookmark.

Add hot glue around the eyeball, just enough to make it look like eyelids.

Nicole also used a hot glue gun to make stitch-like lines, along with an anchor line to the left of the bookmark.

Then I used acrylic paint to give the bookmark a more worn look.

Using a sponge brush, I painted over the bookmark with brown paint. The result should look like a spell book from the Hocus Pocus movie.

Don’t forget to draw on the glue used to make the eyelid.

Finally, take a dry brush with some light tan paint to make the bookmark look more worn.

psychic sign

A year-round item in the Dollar Tree can turn into a Halloween decoration with a little elbow grease.

Nicole finds a circular mark that reminds her of a fortune teller crystal ball.

I attached blue and purple marble cards to the sign with a glue stick. On the cards, I put a printable sheet that reads: “I see Hocus Pocus movie night in your future.”

magic on you

This DIY includes Dollar Tree wooden trays that Nicole placed on top of each other using hot glue.

Before gluing the two drawers together, I made more fake stitches and binding lines with a hot glue gun and added the fake spiders.

For the spiders I used the party rings I got from the Dollar Tree and cut off the ring part, so the spiders would lie flat.

Then she painted everything with black paint and then slicked it over with a dry brush using a light tan paint.

Finally, letter stickers added, “I have put a spell on you and you are now mine.”

black flame candle

Dollar Tree sells pillar candles that are perfect for the Black Flame candle seen in Hocus Pocus.

All you have to do is stick a printable poster, which you can find online, to the candle.

If you prefer a faux candle, the Dollar Tree has LED candles that you can paint black.

sisters picture

Next is a super simple DIY mirror. Nicole found a Gothic-style mirror from a dollar tree and turned it into a frame.

All I did was paste a black and white picture of the three Sanderson sisters from the movie onto the face of the mirror.

The frame is a rustic copper color, but if you prefer a different frame, you can always paint it black or any other color with acrylic paint.

Belize Pumpkin

For all Billy Bucherson fans – this is for you.

Nicole took a pumpkin marker and spray painted it black.

Then she pasted a printable Billy Bucherson sheet onto the center of the pumpkin.

The pumpkin has also been brush dried with light colored acrylic paint to add some texture.

chopping block

You only need two things for this next DIY – a dollar tree cutting board and a printable picture.

Nicole pasted a picture of the Sanderson sisters on her cutting board and that was it! You can use any picture you want for this DIY.

You can either place the board upright or even hang it with a hook or nail because Dollar Tree cutting boards have a hole in the handle.

bright painting

To make a Hocus Pocus decorative plate, you will need a printable plate, a Dollar Tree plate, and a couple of minutes of your time.

Nicole used a black and white photo of a mirror reflecting an image of a cat. Again, feel free to use any image you like.

All I did was hot glue the image onto the board – but be sure to use cardstock for printing if you choose to do this DIY.

“Eye on You” candy bowl

For this candy bowl, you need to purchase a small chalkboard tag from the Dollar Tree and cover it with leatherette.

Once the fabric is glued to the marker, use the same technique you used for the spelling bookmark.

The only difference with this DIY was the black paint Nicole used on the hot glue lines.

Then she affixed a bowl of black spider web candy to a black pumpkin.

The detachable pumpkin stem was fed through the bowl and used to support the leather incantation book sign.

Don’t be a witch

Nicole used a small plastic cone for construction and a small plastic plate for a DIY witch hat.

She sprayed both shapes and then glued the bottom of the cone to the plate.

This small decorative piece can be placed around other Halloween decorations for a cute centerpiece.
