SME Presents “Robots in Fundamentals of Manufacturing” Certificate

Small and medium-sized companiesLtd., a nationally recognized manufacturing certification body, announced today that it has developed and will introduce Robotics in Manufacturing Fundamentals (RMF) Accreditation.

The new certification, which focuses on assessing a candidate’s understanding of basic robotics concepts, can be used by those who are currently looking to improve skills or re-skill in manufacturing positions before pursuing equipment-specific training or a career path in robotics.

Accreditation can help individuals begin a lifelong career in an industry where there is opportunity for advancement and well-paying jobs.

The industry-recognized RMF accreditation was developed by SME, with two leading organizations in the field of robotics education: Robotics Education and Competition FoundationAnd the first.

“Through our extensive industry, education, and workforce networks, SMEs have identified a common need for robotics credentials that demonstrates that degree holders have an understanding of Basic concepts of robotics before starting a more advanced training programme.

RMF’s credentials, which focus on the fundamentals of robotics manufacturing, provide a starting point for any career path a candidate may pursue in the field of robotics.

With an RMF credential and the essential knowledge that it represents, a candidate has several options available to them including:

  • Entry-level hiring for manufacturing jobs that involve robotics and automation

Pursue education and training for:

  • A career path specific to robotics such as a robotics technician, robotics specialist, robotics integrator, or robotics engineer
    Equipment robotics training and certification
  • A skilled trade in which robotics can be used such as machining or welding
  • Industrial maintenance or mechatronics certificate

RMF credentials are ideal for high school and college students, disengaged workers, out-of-work individuals, veterans, at-risk youth, and others looking for new jobs in high-demand manufacturing jobs.

SMEs have led the manufacturing industry in offering industry-recognized certifications for more than 50 years, including Lean Certification, Certification Additive Manufacturing, Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA), Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT), and Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE).

Candidates can pursue RMF credentials on their own, work with a local training provider, or access Tooling U-SME resources to prepare for the exam.

Tooling U-SME offers a 22-class online elective preparatory program covering foundational manufacturing topics such as Introduction to Manufacturing, Applied Mathematics, Robotic Applications, Robot Systems and Components, Robot Programming Concepts and more – topics agreed by manufacturing experts as relevant to foundational robotics knowledge across a wide range of industries. industries. After completing the training program, passing the certification exam validates the knowledge gained.

With each class lasting approximately 60 minutes, the training program can be completed in a few weeks (usually less than one month) or in one semester as part of the school’s Introduction to Robotics course, which offers short-term but thorough preparation for the certification exam.

With more than two million jobs potentially left unfilled due to a shortage of trained workers, there are plenty of opportunities for career advancement.
