Yellow City Ventures to become a major investor in Hyper Food Robotics

With Hyper Autonomous Kitchens, it takes 8 minutes to cook a pizza for a comprehensive process and the kitchen can produce up to 120 pizzas per hour. An unoccupied kitchen can operate three times more efficiently than a human-operated kitchen by reducing overheads of labor costs and rent, as well as reducing food waste. Modules are easy to transport, ensuring easy scalability. Using artificial intelligence technology, the robotic kitchen can ensure consistency in food quality and safety standards.

Hyper is the brainchild of Udi Shamai, Yariv Rechish and Harel Shafran. CEO Audi is a well-known businessman and owner of Pizza Hut Israel with more than thirty years in the management of fast food restaurants. Faced with rising labor costs and the challenges of hiring kitchen staff, Shamai decided to explore how robotics and automation could alleviate the persistent problems of manpower shortages. He decided to bring together a team of experts in the fields of food, robotics, and mechanics to design a completely independent store that could increase efficiency and reduce reliance on the human workforce in the food service industry.

Food service outside the building

The goal is to design a fully automated, self-contained solution kitchen for fast food restaurants that will replace an entire restaurant kitchen and automate the entire process from food preparation to cooking to food packing for delivery without requiring any kitchen staff to be involved. With modular stand-alone kitchens, customers can essentially operate food services off premises using a “plug and play” boxed kitchen, ensuring easy expansion while keeping manufacturing costs economical. Shamai is also committed to ensuring that quality assurance and food quality are not compromised.

Nicholas Cox, Managing Partner of Velocity Ventures said: “We are excited to invest in Future Restaurant Kitchen because we know restaurants around the world are facing a workforce crisis. Our strategic roadmap at Velocity Venture is to identify and drive startups that will solve the problems companies face in the hospitality and travel industry. The Hyper Automated Kitchen will be the disruptive technology of tomorrow for the food service industry as labor shortage challenges escalate as more people now avoid home operations jobs. Automation and robotics can help companies lower labor costs and improve productivity by taking on repetitive tasks in the kitchen, allowing restaurants to redeploy their employees to other parts of the business that improve customer experience.”

Audi Shamai CEO and Co-Founder of Hyper Food Robotics, “Having Velocity Ventures as our lead investor is a major milestone for the team at Hyper. We launched our first demo store in October 2021 in Israel where Pizza Hut introduced a robotic kitchen that could prepare and cook pizza and side dishes. We envision Exciting times ahead as we grow and expand globally with the right partners. We aim to launch Hyper “Robot Kitchens” globally by next year, which will be a game changer for any foodservice operator wishing to deploy a cloud kitchen in which all automated technology and production areas are packed within A self-cleaning shipping container is similar to a shipping container. A unit.”

Velocity Ventures is the most active investor in travel and hospitality technology in Southeast Asia, including Hyper, and has seven companies. The company also aims to make ten additional investments in the sector by the fourth quarter of 2023.
